5 Things Successful Websites Do

Ever wondered what it takes to pull off a successful website? The answer lies in the success formula other websites use. Take a look at successful websites and you’ll notice that they all, without exception meet a need, provide a service, inform, entertain or offer some type of benefit to the visitor. In order for your website to be effective, you will need a lot of return visitors. What is more, you will need quality traffic that will be likely to take the desired action. While there is certainly room for debate on various techniques to achieve these and other important objectives, this article aims to investigate and expose 5 things successful websites have in common.

1)     Content – The basis of any website.

Think of your favourite websites. What makes you return to it time and again? Chances are it’s not to stare at the fascinating background. What drives visitors to a website is content, content, content! The main thing people search for online is information. Not pretty pictures or a great looking website, but info, and plenty of it. You have to populate your website with what your visitors want – relevant information.

2)     You can’t escape good web design

Next is to ensure the fast loading of your home page. Your website design and coding plays an important role in nailing this step. Taking Google as an example, they give their visitors what they want, as quickly as possible. Google’s home page loads in 2.3 seconds. Ways to aid the speed at which your website loads is to have the minimal amount of graphics on your home page. The graphics that you do decide to add should be optimized, which means their file size should be as small as possible while still maintaining good quality.

3)     Aesthetics compliment your website

An important aspect to the success of the most popular websites is its appeal. Studies have shown when addressing websites’ credibility, website visitors referred to design 46% of the time. The bottom line is if your website design looks professional, with clear and simple navigation, your business will appear credible and trustworthy.

4)     User friendly for a reason

Make your website easy to use. Some of the most popular websites are the simplest. If you have a large website, consider adding a search facility (up to 60% of visitors will make use of it). Keep the text simple – black text on a white background remains the easiest text to read.

5)     Online Marketing = SUCCESS!

The final thing successful websites do is to promote them effectively. It might sound obvious, but even big brands have moved away from the ‘build it and they will come’ ideology. You need to promote your website with effective online marketing in order to stand out among the myriad of voices vying for the spotlight in the online world.

While there are plenty of ways to improve the popularity and ultimate success of your website, it’s not necessary to reinvent the wheel. By making use of tried and tested online marketing methods such as effective SEM and SEO campaigns, you can effectively and inexpensively rank among the highflyers.

Kindle Fire review

The Kindle Fire is a 7 inch tablet which links masterfully with Amazon’s impressive collection of digital books, magazines, videos and music. It is a user friendly product and boasts a fantastic web browser which comes with a curated Android app store which includes most of the hot apps of the moment such as Netflix, Pandora and Hulu. The Kindle Fire comes at a super affordable price and has brilliant screen quality for the price tag.

Of course there are drawbacks too. The budget price means that there are no premium features you’d expect such as 3G Wireless Internet, cameras, microphone or GPs. But the biggest issue might be the mere 8GB storage space, with no expansion slot.

The screen brightness could be better, and the application selection does not come close to Apple’s or Google’s frankly. You will also need an Amazon Prime subscription in order to take advantage of some of the more unique Features included with the Kindle Fire.

Although it lacks tech specs that would have been great, for the price you really could not ask for anything more. It is a thumbs up for the Kindle Fire.

Why you need to destroy Security Sphere

Due to the increase in the number of rogue antispyware applications flooding the Internet, rogues like Security Sphere makes it that much more difficult for users to distinguish between genuine and fake security tools. Security Sphere, which derives from the same despicable family of rogues as Security Shield will not protect your PC against any type of threat, as it is a malicious infection in itself. In order to protect your PC against the devastating effects of this rogue destroy Security Sphere immediately.

This rogue will use any method at its disposal to enter its victims’ PCs. These range from using bogus online malware scanners and seditious browser hijacking websites. Once it manages to securely root itself into the system Security Sphere will start its attack.

This will be heralded by a fake security scan informing the user that his PC is under attack. It will inform the user that he needs to purchase Security Sphere in order to stave off these attacks. Shortly following this the user will be spammed by various annoying pop up messages stating the same thing. Some of the pop ups read as follows:

Security Sphere 2012 Warning
your computer is still infected with dangerous viruses. Activate antivirus protection to prevent data loss and avoid theft of your credit card details.

Security Sphere 2012 Warning
Intercepting programs that may compromise your privacy and harm your system have been detected on your PC.
Click here to remove them immediately with Security Sphere 2012

Other symptoms associated with this rogue include users being unable to launch applications on the infected PC and blocked Internet connections. There is a way to disable these annoying symptoms, simply enter the following activation key into the rogue:

8945315-6548431

Users are reminded that by simply entering the above activation key it will not be enough to get rid of Security Sphere. They still need to annihilate Security Sphere from the system in order to restore the PC’s security and privacy.

IRM offering freebies to win back good will

It would seem as though RIM, the developers and creators behind BlackBerry is trying to appease its angry crowed of consumers by giving away free applications, along with free technical support. This is done in the wake of the outages BlackBerry users across the world experienced recently.

The free applications will include Sims 3 and NOVA, as well as Bejeweld and many other free games and applications. They will be available for free from AppWorld, for an entire month starting Wednesday. The free tech support will also be limited up to a month.

Along with these offers RIM’s official description of the outage does not let on to what caused the outage. Details are as yet still unclear of exactly what caused the outage. But whatever the cause, the outage has focus a good deal of attention on the weaknesses of the centralized routing of data and in a reliance on cloud processing in general. Hopefully lessons were learned here.

Security Sphere 2012: New name – same destructive rogue

It would seem as though the developers behind Security Shield has been hard at work with their latest clone – Security Sphere 2012. This rubbish rogue antispyware application was never designed to pose any type of benefit to a PC, but instead to simply rip consumers off. It will not protect the system against any type of threat, and cannot detect or remove any type of infection. It is because of this, and many other reasons to follow why users have to destroy Security Sphere 2012 upon detection immediately.

Security Sphere 2012 will use any devious tactic at its disposal to facilitate its nefarious infiltration of the system.  These may range from using bogus online malware scanners and seditious browser hijacking websites. These browser hijackers make use of drive-by download tactics to root the Security Sphere 2012 infection into the system. As of late it has also been reported that Security Sphere 2012 makes use of infected online flash ads.

Symptoms associated with the Security Sphere 2012 infection range from blocked Internet connections, the inability to execute applications on the system and extremely poor system performance. It is possible to disable these annoying symptoms by entering the following activation key:

8945315-6548431

Users still need to remove Security Sphere 2012 even after entering the above key as the symptoms will only be disabled, but the threat not removed. Do this by using a powerful security tool to destroy Security Sphere 2012 for good.

Samsung to seek ban on Apple iPhone 4s in France and Italy

It would seem as though Samsung Electronics Co. will seek to ban Apple’s iPhone 4S in France and Italy on the basis of patent infringement claims, which is only set to escalate the dispute between thaw world’s two biggest makers of tablets and smart phones.

Samsung is set to file the motions with the courts in Paris and Milan seeking the ban, each citing two patent infringements on wireless telecommunications technology. Apple unveiled the iPhone 4S in California this week and aims to release the phone on sale to the market later this month.

The move will add to the legal disputes which began in April when Applie claimed that Samsung’s Galaxy devices copied the iPad and iPhone. At stake is dominance in the fast growing segment of the $207 billion dollar mobile phone market, where Apple is competing against makers of handsets powered by Google’s Android operating system.

MSE false positive necessitates Google update

It would seem as though Internet giant Google has been forced to update its Chrome web browser, after Microsoft Security Essentials started mistakenly detecting it as malware. The false positive incident happened on September 30th, and involved Microsoft’s security product alerting users that chrome.exe is a banking Trojan from the Zeus family of malware, and recommended its removal.

Users who acted on Microsoft Security Essentials’ recommendations then removed the threat found themselves no longer able to use Google Chrome. Many of them flocked to Google’s Chrome support forum to report the problem.

According to a statement from Microsoft’s Malware protection Center, around 3000 users were impacted by the faulty definition and ended up with the Chrome browser either being removed or blocked.

Microsoft released a signature update to address this irrational error in a matter of mere hours, but the damage had already been done.

Kindle Fire is on fire!

The Kindle Fire tablet was announced by Amazon.com and has some traits that will separate it from the crowded competitors. It retails at a low price of $199 and has a fast browser called Amazon Silk, which affords access to an abundant ecosystem of movies, music, apps, and books.

The Fire has a 7inch color touch screen at 1024 x600 resolutions and is lightweight at 14.6 ounces and functions over Wi-Fi only. Those features put the Kindle Fire squarely in competiton with Barns and Noble’s Nook Color, a 7inch e-reader and browser enabled divide which sells for $249.

Most consumers will attempt to compare the Fire with Apple iPad 2, a 9.7 inch tablet on Wi-Fi with a price tag at $499. The iPad 2 is already the runaway market leader, with more than a 70% market share. Time will tell if the Kindle Fire will be able to leave its mark in the industry.
